A Town Called Mercy - “Looking at you, Doctor, is like looking into a mirror, almost.  There’s rage there, like me.  There’s guilt, like me.  Solitude.  Everything but the nerve to do what needs to be done.”

The more I think about this episode the better I realise it was. Because it was so so clever. Because there wasn’t a villain. And the man we thought was the villain was actually good. And the man who was then revealed to be a villain was actually the one who saved everyone in the end and had repented his crimes. It was just such a brilliant episode about humanity (even though there were aliens…)

"In my culture, we believe that when you die, your spirit has to climb a mountain, carrying the souls of everyone you’ve wronged in your lifetime. Imagine the weight I will have to lift: the monsters I created, the people they killed. Isaac! He was my friend. Now his soul will be in my arms, too."
— Kahler Jex, Doctor Who: ‘A Town Called Mercy’. (via anerdandherbooks)
